Drought
We here at the Voice are concerned about the drought. We're concerned that the Oconee campus and its students aren't taking all the action they can to alleviate the Athens region during this time of struggle. Furthermore, were scared that shower rations will be imposed for North Georgia and that everyone will stink. They will stink downtown, they will stink in class, and they will stink in restaurants. This whole situation, if we don't do anything to help, could really begin to stink.
The first thing student should be doing is taking Navy showers. This process is simple. When taking a shower, wet you're hair and body, then turn the water of until you need to rinse. This keeps you from running water the entire shower time and therefore cuts back on wasted water.
Further measures that clubs on campus or the campus itself can take are selling water "at price", which is more of less the practice of buying at selling water for zero loss or gain. This way we students don't have to use water from the fountains on campus and neither the school nor the students will be set back; and we all know how that 25 cent raise in the vending price upsets most students anyways.
A further simple measure that can be taken is simple the "if its yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down" policy. This is easy enough for guys to handle, just simply flush when you have too. These is no real need to flush every time you pee anyways, it's a tremendous waste of water in a time like this.
It seems simple enough that if everyone takes the measures named above, we can all benefit by buying time until our water supply runs out. So unless you don't mind everyone smelling worse then the College Station exit, please remember, save the water.
