A vote for Barack Obama is a vote for change. Not just because his skin color alone would have until any election but now prevented him from even being able to hold the office of president. The change Barack Obama brings to this election is much more than a change from the incompetent, impractical, ill-advised policies of the last eight years, it's a change to the political process.

Someone is finally shaking the foundation of the American political system and demanding to be heard. Barack Obama's message of change from the politics of fear and deception, into a message of hope and prosperity resonates with the average person for a reason. Our country's finest leaders have always been people who have led with hope and optimism. Our nation deserves a leader who can truly represent the "American Dream" to the rest of the world, while still inspiring a generation of young people at home.

I don't, however, intend to vote for Barack Obama simply because he's younger and more media savvy than John McCain. The biggest reason that I, and probably over half the country, will vote for Barack Obama is because his plans for our country are simply unmatched by John McCain.

Barack Obama's plans to cut our dependency on foreign oil, to ensure healthcare coverage for Americans, and to safely end the war in Iraq are well within the mainstream of social consciousness. John McCain's plans, however, strongly reflect a desire to continue with the same failed policies of the last eight years that were implemented by the Bush administration. Obama will cut taxes for 95% of all taxpayers, whereas McCain plans to cut taxes for only the richest individuals and corporations in the United States.

The choice in this election is clear, a vote for hope, or a vote for more of the same failed policies. I've made the right choice. I hope you do too.
