Republicans! Democrats! Republicans! Democrats! Are there any other options for this election? Well, actually there is over 10 different parties to choose from, which include: Boston Tea Party, Constitution Party, Green Party, Libertarian Party, New American Independent Party, Party of Socialism and Liberation, Prohibition Party, Reform Party, Socialist Party USA Socialist Workers Party. Out of this large variety of parties, the two most funded to campaign nationally are the Green Party and Libertarian Party.
In various states, third party candidates have to go through state mandated procedures to get on the ballet, which in effect could be the catalyst of a third parties success or demise.
The Green party has nominated former Georgia congresswomen Cynthia McKinney as their presidential candidate and Rosa Clemente, a former community organizer of New York, as their vice presidential pick. The Green party's main concerns are with the ecological stability of the planet, and how government can reverse the effects of our industrial societies.
Like the Green party the Libertarian Party's agenda can also be found in its name. The candidates for the Libertarian party is former Congressman and U.S. Attorney of Georgia Bob Barr, and the vice presidential candidate is Nevada TV personality and business man Wayne Allyn Root. The Libertarian party stance is that people have certain natural, individual rights and that deprivation of those rights is unjust.
Of these two major parties the Green party tends to relate closer to the Democratic Party, and the Libertarian party tends to relate closer with the Republican Party. Fortunately for Americans, one has more than two or four options of parties to vote for, which is the great thing about being American.
